Ground-Up CELJE Tour
The Celje Castle, Plečnik, Ravnikar and Post-War social housing in Celje

This tour was set by the local students of architecture and is focusing on the problematic situation regarding the post-war Celje modernism, social housing as well as on highlighting remarkable medival center of Celje, some Secession and Post-War monuments, natural landmarks, museums and historical heritage jewels from the site. The lunch will be served in Hotel Europa.

Slovenian Karst Region and PIRAN Tour
Škocjan Caves, Lipica, Piran

This tour will focus on the breathtaking natural and cultural history of the Slovenian Karst and Littoral Region. Groundbreaking Škocjan Caves have been proclamed as UNESCO Natural Heritage Site in 1986. Lipica Stud Farm with famous horses – lipizzaners, was set by the Habsburgs, who ruled this area over 600 years. Lunch will take place at Gostilna Gombač in Lokev village with ecceptional local dishes. The coastal town Piran is one of the most pitoresque spots in Slovenia's 46 km coastline area, with central elliptical square, designed by the architect Boris Podrecca.

Post-Conference Tours: BLED, NOVA GORICA

BLED and Gorenjska Tour
Stražišče, Kranj, Begunje, Bled, Radovljica

This tour focuses on the pearls of Slovenian post-war modernism by Danilo Fürst's Stražišče Primary School and Bled Forest Authority, as well as on Edvard Ravnikar's masterpieces in Kranj and Begunje. It also gives an experience to rest in the shadow of Plečnik's rudimentar Murke »garden houses« and to experience boat trip to Lake Bled Island. The local cuisine will be served in Pr'Lectar Restaurant in Radovljica, a delightful mediveal town with rich cultural and natural background.

September 2, 2018, 9:00 - 20:00

Štanjel, Nova Gorica/Gorizia with sourroundings, Goriška Brda, Trst/Trieste

This tour will start in the Max Fabiani's remarkable Štanjel town. Furthermore it will focus on the modernist new town Nova Gorica, designed by the pioneer of Slovenian urban planning, prof. Edvard Ravnikar in 1947 with LC's La Ville Radieuse as a reference point. Described in Ravnikar's words; We were supposed to build something great, beautiful and proud, something to radiate over the border. In Goriška Brda we will climb the dare functionalist Marko Šlajmer's Gonjače tower with the views as long as to the Trieste Bay and taste cuisine in Hiša Franko, by the 2017s World's best female chef Ana Roš. The tour will end in Trieste, visiting some outstanding examples of Slovenian and Italian modernism.
